Morgan Wallen is an American country music performer. The song You Proof is one of his. On May 13, 2022, it was made available as a promotional single. On July 18, 2022, it was made available on country radio. The main single from Wallen’s third studio album One Thing at a Time was co-written by Wallen, Ashley Gorley, Ernest Keith Smith, and Ryan Vojtesak.

“Drinking away the memory of a previous lover” is the theme of the song. The guitar is the primary instrument used in it. In celebration of his 29th birthday, Wallen published it. Subsequently, the song was played on the sixth episode of the first season of Fire Country on CBS, which debuted on November 18, 2022.

You Proof replaced Wallen’s song Wasted on You at the top of the Billboard Hot Country Songs list on May 23, 2022. That is Wallen’s fifth single to top the chart at release. Additionally, it surpassed 7 Summers, which peaked at number six, to become his biggest charting single at the time, peaking at number five on the Billboard Hot 100. Starting with the October 15, 2022, Country Airplay chart, it peaked at number one for five weeks in a row. On November 19, Tyler Hubbard’s 5 Foot 9 overtook it at number two. The song Half of Me by Thomas Rhett and Riley Green overtook it the next week, and it stayed at number two.

You Proof regained its top spot on the December 3 chart for six weeks, but Bailey Zimmerman’s Fall in Love overtook it the following week. It peaked once more on the December 17 chart and remained there for four more weeks. In the end, the song topped the charts for ten separate, non-consecutive weeks. The song became the first in the history of that chart to return to the top after numerous songs had previously peaked at number one, as its three distinct spells at number one on Country Airplay demonstrated.

Released on September 9, 2022, the music video for You Proof was produced by Taylor Vermillion and directed by Justin Clough. Charly Jordan plays Wallen’s romantic interest, who drives erratically with Wallen in the backseat through the town and on a back road. After Wallen leaps out of the automobile, he discovers he has been having hallucinations.
