Akon, with Keri Hilson, performs the song Oh Africa from the compilation Listen Up! The Official 2010 FIFA World Cup Album. The song was made available as a charity single in order to support Akon’s organisation, “Konfidence,” which helps impoverished children in Africa. On January 31, 2010, the night of the 52nd Grammy Awards, the song and video were made available for digital download. The song also includes young vocalists from other nations and the Soweto Gospel Choir. The music video features cameos from football players Thierry Henry, Didier Drogba, Kaká, Fernando Torres, Lionel Messi, Frank Lampard, Michael Ballack, and Andrei Arshavin.
This is the third song that these two artists have performed together; the other two were the non-album tune “Mic Check,” which was produced by Timbaland, and “Change Me,” which was featured on Keri’s debut album In a Perfect World… This is one of the official 2010 World Cup theme songs, according to Pepsi.
