Taylor Swift – Mean Ringtone Download
American singer-songwriter Taylor Swift wrote and recorded the song Mean for her third studio album, Speak Now. On March 13, 2011, Big Machine Records released the song as the third single from the album to US country radio. The song is a banjo-led country pop and bluegrass song that features multitracked vocals, fiddles, and hand claps. It was produced by Swift and Nathan Chapman. The lyrics, which were influenced by Swift’s detractors, tell the story of a protagonist who recognises her own failings and tries to move past the criticism and mockery of a “mean” opponent.
Many music critics who reviewed Speak Now pointed out that Mean was the only song on the album that fit Swift’s description of herself as a country singer. Some considered it the album’s highlight, citing the catchy sound and clever lyrics; others thought the lyrics were naive. The song was included in Rolling Stone’s 2014 list of the 100 Greatest Country Songs Ever. Mean took up the Best Country Song and Best Country Solo Performance Grammy Awards in 2012. The song was certified triple platinum by the Recording Industry Association of America (RIAA) after reaching its highest positions of number 11 on the Billboard Hot 100 and number 2 on the Hot Country Songs chart in the United States.
Declan Whitebloom, who worked with Swift to develop the concept, directed the music video for the song. Its themes of self-empowerment and anti-bullying won it plaudits from some media outlets for promoting positivism, while others questioned its story because of its ambiguity. The video was nominated for awards at the MTV Video Music Awards, the Academy of Country Music Awards, and the Country Music Association Awards. Swift gave live performances of Mean at the 2012 Grammy Awards and the 2011 Academy of Country Music Awards. It was part of the set list for the Red Tour and the Speak Now World Tour that she did. On July 7, 2023, Swift’s third re-recorded album, Speak Now (Taylor’s track), with the re-recorded track “Mean (Taylor’s Version)” was released.
Taylor Swift – Mean Lyrics
You, with your words like knives
And swords and weapons that you use against me,
You, have knocked me off my feet again,
Got me feeling like I’m nothing.
You, with your voice like nails on a chalkboard
Calling me out when I’m wounded.
You, pickin’ on the weaker man.
Well you can take me down,
With just one single blow.
But you don’t know, what you don’t know,
Someday, I’ll be living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?
You, with your switching sides,
And your walk by lies and your humiliation
You, have pointed out my flaws again,
As if I don’t already see them.
I walk with my head down,
Trying to block you out cause I’ll never impress you
I just wanna feel okay again.
I bet you got pushed around,
Somebody made you cold,
But the cycle ends right now,
You can’t lead me down that road,
You don’t know, what you don’t know
Someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?
And I can see you years from now in a bar,
Talking over a football game,
With that same big loud opinion but,
Nobody’s listening,
Washed up and ranting about the same old bitter things,
Drunk and grumbling on about how I can’t sing.
But all you are is mean,
All you are is mean.
And a liar, and pathetic, and alone in life,
And mean, and mean, and mean, and mean
But someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so ?
Someday, I’ll be, living in a big old city,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean. Yeah,
Someday, I’ll be big enough so you can’t hit me,
And all you’re ever gonna be is mean.
Why you gotta be so mean?
