Shoulda Let You Go is a song that American R&B singer Keyshia Cole wrote and recorded for her second studio album, Just Like You. Along with producing it, Rodney “Darkchild” Jerkins is a co-writer. Rapper Amina adds additional vocals to the song. Shoulda Let You Go was released as the album’s second single and made its radio debut on Atlanta’s V103 on August 25, 2007. It reached number 40 on the US Billboard Hot 100 and peaked at number six on Hot R&B/Hip-Hop Songs.
Erik White helmed the Miami-based shoot for the music video. It debuted on October 4, 2007, on BET’s Access Granted. Cole is shown sleeping at the start of the film, with roses and an answering machine indicating that she had ten missed calls and twelve unread messages from her former partner. After that, it depicts Cole having fun and chatting with her closest pals. In between are scenes of Cole dancing with a group of men dancers and scenes of her dancing in a bikini on a beach. In the video, rapper Amina makes a cameo.
