Nonetheless, We Were Us went on to win the 2014 CMA Award for Musical Event of the Year, affirming its resonance with fans and industry professionals alike.
The music video, directed by Reid Long and Becky Fluke, premiered in November 2013 and visually reinforces the themes of nostalgia and lost love through moody, reflective imagery.
