On March 27, 2023, Tyler tweeted that he had numerous tracks on his debut album, Call Me If You Get Lost, from 2021 that were not included in the project’s official release. He stated that “some of those songs I really love, and knew they would never see the light of day, so Ive decided to put a few of them out [sic].” Dogtooth, the lead song for the deluxe edition of Call Me If You Get Lost, was released on the same day.
The Fader has described the subject of the music video as “Billionaire Boys Club meets Wes Anderson.” In the music video, Tyler demonstrates his affluent and refined sense of style by driving stunts, walking pricey dogs, and using a crane to smash multiple Rolls-Royce cars. The accompanying song has a soft, heartfelt tone that celebrates love and is matched by rich, soulful sound, while the video is full of these extravagant displays.
