The song Dirty Dancer was written by American singer Usher and Spanish singer Enrique Iglesias. It was included on Usher’s EP Versus and was recorded for Iglesias’ sixth studio album, Euphoria. On May 9, 2011, Universal Music Group released a remix of the song featuring American rapper Lil Wayne and American singer Nayer as the sixth single from Euphoria. Dirty Dancer is a dance-pop song written by Erika Nuri and David Quiñones with producer RedOne and vocalist Evan Bogart.
While the single version of Dirty Dancer debuted in the Australian Singles Chart, the New Zealand Singles Chart, and the U.S. Billboard Hot 100, the album version was featured on the UK Singles Chart, the Dutch Single Top 100, and the Slovakian Radio Top 100 Oficiálna. The three performers may be seen observing hologram dancers in nightclubs in the “Dirty Dancer” music video, which was directed by Ethan Lader. Australia and the USA have already recognised the song as gold. The Dutch symphonic metal band Within Temptation performed it for their April 2013 cover album The Q-Music Sessions and as part of their weekly radio covers to promote their upcoming show, Elements. Parts of Faithless’ 1995 song Salva Mea are sampled in this tune.
On May 12, 2011, Enrique Iglesias made his live debut of Dirty Dancer as a medley with “I Like It” during the tenth season of American Idol. He looked great during the performance, sporting a black leather jacket and blue pants. The jacket included TV screens with supporting vocals and a band behind Usher and Lil Wayne. Iglesias was first only illuminated by a single spotlight, but later the stage was lit by many green laser beams.
