It was originally played on Atlanta’s V103 WVEE radio station on October 25, 2007, and was written and produced by Keys and Kerry Brothers Jr. On January 22, 2008, J Records released it as the follow-up single from As I Am.

The song won an ASCAP Rhythm & Soul Music Award for Top R&B/Hip-Hop Song in 2008 in addition to two NAACP Image Awards for Outstanding Music Video and Outstanding Song.
