The second single from R&B singer-songwriter T-Pain‘s third album, Thr33 Ringz, is titled Chopped N Skrewed. Ludacris, an American rapper, appears in the song. On September 22, 2008, it was initially made available on the Canadian iTunes. That same day, T-Pain posted the song to her MySpace. On September 30, it was made available on iTunes in the US.
The song features a future sound and imagines many situations in which women deceive and mislead men. The song’s title and style allude to the Texas-born chopped and screwed genre of music. To create its strong and static beat, it also has an autotune option.
T-Pain and Ludacris performed Chopped N Screwed and One More Drink on Saturday Night Live on November 22, 2008. Lil Wayne, T-Pain, and Ludacris performed the song at the 2008 BET Hip-Hop Awards. T-Pain is linked to the song’s instrumentation, which was included in an Adult Swim commercial bumper.
According to the iTunes Store countdown to Thr33 Ringz, the video for Chopped N Screwed, which includes parts of Can’t Believe It, was supposed to be published on October 14 along with the single release of the album’s third single, Freeze. Nevertheless, it was made available for viewing on T-Pain’s YouTube account on October 12. DJ Khaled and Sophia Fresh make a brief appearance in the video.
