He called Scotland the “absolutely stunning” location where the music video was filmed for his Twelve Carat Tour.
Malone talks about being drunk at late-night parties and feeling bad the next morning on the pop-rap tune. A few reviewers felt the heavy bass occasionally overwhelmed the acoustic elements, and some long-time fans expressed a sense of “lost magic,” suggesting the track felt more like a safe commercial pop song compared to the genre-blurring intensity of his earlier hits.
In terms of commercial impact, Mourning performed respectably but did not reach the chart-topping status of Malone’s previous diamond-certified singles. In the United States, the song debuted at #36 on the Billboard Hot 100, while in the United Kingdom, it reached a peak of #35 on the Official Singles Chart. It saw similar mid-tier success across international markets, peaking at #31 in Ireland and #40 on the Canadian Hot 100.
