It is the second collaboration between the two performers, following the 2023 song “Antidoto,” and was released on September 26, 2024, through Rancho Humilde and Sony Music Latin. The song achieved commercial success despite the controversy surrounding its lyrics, peaking at number four on the Billboard Global 200 and number 22 on the US Billboard Hot 100.
The melody and lyrics for “Tu Boda” were initially conceived by fellow Mexican songwriter Alexis Fierro, better known by his stage as El Chachito, after he was worn out from a long trip. Additionally, he played a guitar sample of the song, which was inspired by the Tim Burton-directed movie Corpse Bride. Óscar Maydon was so moved by the song that he spent several days creating the guitar and tololoche arrangements, which were composed using vocal sounds.
On September 26, 2024, “Tu Boda” became available for streaming and digital download via Rancho Humilde and Sony Music Latin. The song “Tu Boda” is a corrido tumbado-sierreño with a thematic focus on a man witnessing his loved one being married to someone else. It also centres on his desire to pass away with his former spouse.
The accompanying music video for “Tu Boda” was released on October 14, 2024, after the song’s lyric video was published concurrently. It starts with Maydon, dressed for a wedding, getting out of a car. It was directed by Jessy Terrero. At the wedding, where Maydon is shown singing the chorus, a woman is also seen getting married to a statue. Also spotted singing in front of a car with a woman on it is Jesús Ortíz Paz of Fuerza Regida. The woman and the singers can also be seen in a chamber with neon lights and near a burning doorway in different scenarios.
