The South Korean singer Jungkook of BTS, along with American rapper Latto, released the song Seven as a single via Big Hit Music on July 14, 2023. Andrew Watt and Cirkut, who also co-wrote the song with Jon Bellion, Latto, and Theron Makiel Thomas, who is produced it. The song, a romantic UK garage pop tune, is about longing to be with your partner all the time. Additionally, an explicit version was made available, and it was later featured on Jungkook’s Golden debut studio album.
The song debuted on music charts in more than fifty countries, with the highest positions found in Singapore, Malaysia, India, and Latvia. It became Jungkook and Latto’s first number-one when it debuted at the top of the US Billboard Hot 100 and the Global 200. Additionally, it was the number one song in Hong Kong, Indonesia, Malaysia, Vietnam, South Korea, the Philippines, and Taiwan on Billboard’s Hits of the World charts.
Seven broke the previous record for the highest debuting song by a solo Korean act in history when it debuted at number three on the UK Singles Chart. It also appeared in the top 10 charts in South Korea, Australia, Japan, Lithuania, Peru, Paraguay, New Zealand, Canada, Ireland, and Switzerland. In the end, it became the most-streamed duet of 2023 on Spotify, shattering the record for the fastest song in history to reach one billion plays.
Rhian Daly, who wrote for NME, rated Jungkook’s Seven a four out of five stars, complimenting his “polished mid-register and honeyed falsetto” and saying that the song “set the bar high for his solo era”
