Wood had earlier collaborated with Emily Reid on the chorus, and upon integrating it with Holman’s composition, they produced a demo. This demo was presented to Davis, who responded positively, leading to a studio recording at Sound Stage Studios in Nashville, Tennessee, with drummer Nir Z contributing to the percussion elements. Producer Paul DiGiovanni enriched the track by incorporating Spanish guitar nuances, steel guitar accents, and a Southern rock-inspired twin guitar break.
The narrative of I Ain’t Sayin’ revolves around a woman experiencing neglect from her partner. Davis sings from the perspective of an observer who acknowledges his imperfections but believes he could be a better companion than her current partner. The lyrics depict scenes where the woman waits in vain for her date at a bar, highlighting her partner’s shortcomings and the narrator’s desire to offer her a more fulfilling relationship.
The official music video for I Ain’t Sayin’ was released on October 17, 2024, under the direction of Caleb Cockrell. Filmed in Charleston, South Carolina, the video showcases Davis and his friends enjoying activities like boating and backyard barbecues. The storyline follows a female friend who, after a fallout with her boyfriend, joins Davis and his group, embracing the camaraderie and festivities.
