Alesha Dixon is an English singer-songwriter and the author of the song Drummer Boy. The lead track from her third studio album, The Entertainer, was made available on September 3, 2010. In late July, the song’s initial teases appeared on Dixon’s fan page. She then revealed via her numerous social media accounts that the song would debut on BBC Radio 1 on July 23 alongside Fearne Cotton.
The Irish Singles Chart first listed Drummer Boy on September 10, 2010, at number twenty-three. Dixon’s lowest-ever peaking first single from an album, the song reached as high as Number 15 on the UK Singles Chart (March 2019).
The music video for Drummer Boy was shot in Los Angeles and directed by Norwegian filmmaker Ray Kay. The music video debuted on television one day later at 11:15 a.m. on 4Music, and then on August 7 at 12:50 p.m. on station 4, 4 Music’s sister station. 4Music said “the video is an ultra slick affair which, as you might expect, boasts a whole troupe of sexy drummer boys”
