Whatever You Like is American singer Nicole Scherzinger‘s first solo single, featuring Sean Garrett and rapper T.I. The song was written by the trio and Polow da Don for Scherzinger’s upcoming first studio album, Her Name Is Nicole. Interscope Records released the single on July 28, 2007.
Whatever You Like is an upbeat three minutes and fifty-two-second hip hop and R&B song. Along with its producer Polow da Don, the musicians co-wrote the song. The beat of the song was likened to that of Chilli’s Straight Jack and Kelis’s Blindfold Me, both of which were produced by Polow da Don. Timbaland’s compositions were likened to the “rave-horn, synth-heavy production” by Rosie Swash of The Guardian. Scherzinger sings lyrically about “riding it like a Harley” and doing whatever her guy pleases. Throughout the song, Garrett makes repeated appearances, repeating the lyrics, “Ladies and gentlemen, I know what you want! She has a stove-like heat. Nicole is her name,” she says as T.I. enters the song in the middle.
Paul Hunter, who also directed the Pussycat Dolls’ breakthrough single Don’t Cha, directed the original music video for Whatever You Like. On July 25, 2007, in San Pedro, California, the filming came to an end. A little video clip was posted online on August 9. Scherzinger made an appearance on TRL on August 20 to introduce the song video.
